ENDO/EXO-THERMIC CHEMICAL REACTIONS
Intro:
Question:
Experimental Design:
Materials
- So far, within this unit, all of our chemical reactions that involved heat was hot. Is this always the case?
Question:
- Do all chemical reactions produce heat?
Experimental Design:
Materials
- Graduated Cylinder
- Thermometer
- Ring Stand & accessories
Reaction 1:
|
Reaction 2:
|
Reaction 3:
|
Procedures:
Results:
- For each reaction, place a thermometer in the liquid for minutes 0 to 2 minutes.
- Record your temperature for each minute.
- After minute 2, and before minute 3, insert the solids into the liquids to get the reaction.
- Continue recording the temperature of the system for minutes 3 to 5.
Results:
Task: Record the temperature for each of the reactions for each minute both before and after the reaction.
Reaction 1: Calcium Chloride & Water
Reaction 2: Baking Soda & Citric Acid
Reaction 3: Ammonium Nitrate & Water
